I am looking to hire a graphic artist, by contract, to do graphics for a casual game.
The contractor is to finish work that was partially completed by a previous artist. The artist must:
The work should take about 30 to 60 hours, depending on the skill and experience of the artist. The partially completed work and game demo will only be sent to a selected candidate.
The existing work is done in photoshop, and exists as .PSD files, so the candidate must be able to work with these files.
I am offering the artist's choice of 1000 USD in cash, or 2.5% of Lumental's gross revenue from the game, or any linear combination of the two (to be agreed upon by the time the payment would be made).
The figure of 2.5% is derived from the fact that the expected gross revenue is 40000 USD, or at least this is the value I would be least surprised with, given the financial data from similar games that I've seen. By choosing royalties, you could make considerably more (or less).
Payments in cash will be made as soon as an acceptable work is delivered. If the artist produces an unacceptable work, it will not be used in the game and the artist will not be paid.
In the event of unacceptable work, I will try to work with you to get it to be acceptable. I am only hiring one person, and I want to avoid unnecessary delays as much as you want to avoid doing work for nothing. I will only select a candidate who seems to be capable of producing acceptable work.
Pay is negotiable if you are a good enough candidate. We can also work out payment in milestones if you prefer.
This is a work-for-hire contract. I will not be considered your employer. You do not have to report to any site to do the work, so you can work from anywhere in the world. The candidate must at least be able to speak English.
The artist that I choose will be able to draw realistic scenes, objects and characters, with a solid understanding of perspective, lighting and theme. The artist must also have either a lengthy previous experience being employed in art, or a suitably large portfolio, to show that in addition to being able to do it, you are able to do it in a reliable and reasonably timely manner.
